This explanation is designed to provide interpreters, who have already
been tested or assessed unsuccessfully for certification, with assistance
to benefit as much as possible from a detailed explanation of their
testing results. An online video session will be scheduled to accomplish
this.
An Overview
Interpreters who have taken a certification test and have yet
to pass, have likely received their results from at least one of the
following exams:
- Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA)
Given by Boys Town National Research Hospital
- Educational Sign Skills Evaluation (ESSE)
Given by The SEE Center
When interpreters receive the results from these exams, they
may find it difficult to understand the technical terminology
contained in the feedback and comments. For a nominal $50.00 fee, our
professional evaluators will help interpreters sort through all of the
"industry jargon" and develop a strategy for retesting.
How PTRE Works
We require an electronic copy of the results from your most recent
certification exam, in either .JPG or .PDF format. The file(s) must be
e-mailed as an attachment to ptreinfo@ccsli.net with the
subject line: Test Results - Your Name.
Once we have received your results and the fee has been paid,
we will review your results and contact you within one week (7 days),
to set up a private 30-minute video conference. During this session,
a thorough explanation of your results will be provided and a
retesting strategy will be discussed.
Who Are the Evaluators?

The Lead Evaluator and individual responsible for oversight of
the evaluation process is the CEO of CCSLI Inc., Gail K. Carmona.
Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, Gail attended classes at
Sheridan College in Brampton, Ontario, as well as the Canadian
Hearing Society. Upon relocating to California, USA she worked as
an interpreter for the State of California?s Dept of Rehabilitation.
She continued her interpreting career interpreting at numerous
colleges and universities, interpreting in the corporate sector, in
the cruise industry, in K-12, video remote interpreting (VRS/VRI),
etc. She holds the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf's (RID's)
National Interpreter Certification (NIC) as well as the EIPA. She is
an active member of AVLIC in Canada and is a member of the Conference
of Interpreter Trainers (CIT). In 2008, she founded Central Coast
Sign Language Interpreters LLC (now CCSLI INC) which provides both
interpreting and interpreter training services throughout all of
California, USA. Additionally, Gail has served on RID's Educational
Interpreter Task Force, as well as, serving for over eight years as
an Evaluator/Judge for the USA's national Educational Interpreter
Performance Assessment (EIPA). Gail is a founding member of the National
Association of Interpreters in Education (NAIE).
